"She is of deadrise construction, has a sharp, straight stem, and little flare. With a sharp entry until about one-third of the way aft, she flattens to a hard chine...a descendent of the Carolina sharpie, a proven easy riding hull that knifes with a fair lift into the close, steep seas typical of North Carolina's Sounds and cape shoals.... narrowness makes her fast and economical and aids in keeping her dry, yet she will carry a good load under adverse conditions. Low Freeboard and overhang make her easy to work from, and the stern deck is an ideal working platform".....
...based on an inner core of C-Flex, type CF-65 with laminates from the CF-65 outward of one each of 1.5 oz mat, one of 24 oz. woven roving, one of 1.5 mat It also called for two layers of 1.5 mat on the boat's interior.
Stringers were 2" X 12" fir encapsulated with more mat and woven roving

At first glance you might think there is a lot of pretty woodwork on “Fox”, but on closer examination, there is a lot of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).which of course is very low maintenance and looks really sharp. It’s used conservatively in various places to do various jobs: the toe rail along the deck, as a fender with 1/2 round Stainless steel for a bumper to fend off pilings, to frame up the companionway and for the slides themselves. HDPE is also used for the bench and stools, step plate on the deck and as paneling inside the cockpit area. Also, HDPE is used for hand holds, the hand rails on the cabin top, and the thin eyebrow along the cabin side. It give the boat a classic look and color scheme.
”Fox is a very simple boat. At the helm station there is a wheel, a compass, the single lever gear shifter and throttle, and an ignition key. You can stand or sit on the HDPE stool. There are outdoor speakers and a windshield with tinted glass. A Bimini cover for rain or shade. Other than a couple of hand holds, that’s it.
Going down the companionway into the cabin is the Simrad GPS Chart Plotter, Raymarine VHF, Fusion Stereo, and an engine trim control, 2 fuel gauges, and an rpm meter. The cockpit area is very open and could easily accommodate 4 more chairs and a small table or two.The engine is mounted on the transom and a swim platform made from HDPE with extending ladder hangs off the transom on the port side.
In the cuddly cabin, there is a fully enclosed head on starboard with a louvered door, a locker currently used for extra dock lines, a vee berth with storage underneath, single stainless sink with foot pedal pump, clean stainless ports add light and ventilation and of course the forward hatch. On port aft are 6 drawers for miscellaneous parts and accessories under an open counter space. Once again, very simple and compact.
