Broker Comments
This Gibson 36 Standard Houseboat 1991 has most recently been used as a floating vacation home in downtown Baltimore with a Million-Dollar View, conveniently located across the street from a major grocery store with dozens of local and chain restaurants and retail stores within walking distance of 5-10 blocks in the highly-desirable and safe Canton area of Baltimore. Compared to the cost of similar size boats and slips for sale in other major harbors, this combination of floating vacation home with Co-Op Slip Membership for under $50,000 is an excellent value for prospective Buyers "as-is" or better yet for a mechanically-inclined Buyer who can recommission the engines and generator, and make other repairs and upgrades to make this a fully-operational cruising vessel (Significantly increasing its value).
However, prospective Buyers should be prepared to have the engines inspected by a competent surveyor and/or mechanic to determine what preventive inspection and maintenance should be done prior to recommissioning them; which the Seller is unwilling to do and will be up to the Buyer to complete, or not, AFTER closing. Because of the age of the fuel in the tanks, Seller has been advised not to attempt to start the engines until the tanks are drained, cleaned, and fresh gasoline added.
Broker has observed that the hydraulic steering system at both helms will require maintenance and/or repair. A few minor leaks have damaged a small area of interior non-structural cabinetry trim forward of the lower helm, but otherwise, the condition of the interior varnished and Formica-covered cabinetry is in good condition, and soft-goods & lighting are useable and functional. There is a rooftop air-cooled 120VAC A/C system that is inoperable, but easily replaced if desired, although the like-new Haier floor model adequately cools the interior.
